Real Food ~ On a Budget ~ Without Coupons {Step 4: The List}

How-to-Grocery-Shop-on-a-Budget-The-List

In my Steps to Success post I wrote about Step #4 – The List. You can click over there for more info. Today I want to talk about the perpetual grocery list. I’m still trying to come up with a better name than “perpetual”, but “items you buy every week” is just too long!

I don’t know why it took me so long to create a weekly grocery list. I used to have a grocery list of everything that I bought at the store….not the items that I needed to buy weekly. The list of everything was sooooo overwhelming.

I find that if I focus on one week at a time
I do much better and don’t get overwhelmed quite as much.

Listed below are the items I buy weekly {click image to enlarge}:

How-to-Grocery-Shop-on-a-Budget-The-ListYou can read about my $100 {ish} budget on my post “Step 2: The Budget”.  On this perpetual grocery list are the foods that I want to buy and serve my family every week. $77 of my $100 is already allocated.

Important!

My grocery list is almost done once I print it off of the computer.

    Lists are so important! I decided last week I wasn’t in the mood to plan or write a list and my spending was almost tripled! I am sure the combination of no list and being hungry when I went shopping is what sunk me last week ;)

    Erika – I hate it when that happens, it’s happened to me more times than I want to count. It’s my rebellious nature I guess!
